IJHPM Structure and Responsibilities
The Editorial Executive Board includes Editor-in-Chief, Founding Editor, Section Editors, Managing Editor, Executive Assistant, Technical Editor, and Production Manager under the chairmanship of the editor-in-chief. The Editorial Executive Board is responsible for the overall performance of the journal.
Editor in Chief: Professor Ali-Akbar Haghdoost
He will be ultimately responsible for the publication and academic excellence of IJHPM’s published articles. He sets the editorial direction and policies for the publication and makes sure of a timely publication of each issue with high-quality articles.
Founding Editor: Dr. Akram Khayatzadeh-Mahani
Associate Editors:Mohammad Karamouzian,Vahid Yazdi-Feyzabadi,Mohammad Reza Baneshi
Section Editors:They will perform prompt pre-screen reviews on submitted manuscripts and assist the editor-in-chief in selecting experienced external reviewers.
Managing Editor:Sahar Najafizadeh, Dr. Mina Moradzadeh
They will directly supervise the day-to-day operations of publications and report to the editor-in-chief. The managing editors’ responsibilities include: suggesting ideas; handling technical problems; keeping the staff on schedule; answering questions from editors and authors; undertaking correspondences related to the journal among authors, reviewers, editors, indexing bodies, online system manager, and journal office.
Assistant Editor: Fatemeh Molaei, Zeynab GolestaniKhah, Fatemeh Yazdizadeh
They will be an integral part of IJHPM’s Editorial Executive Board, working closely with the editor-in-chief and managing editors to increase the quality of IJHPM’s work. The assistant editors' responsibilities include but are not limited to assigning articles to reviewers, copy editing manuscripts, creating and maintaining IJHPM’s style guide, managing a timely and fair peer review process and dealing with inquiries from authors, reviewers, and editors, and assisting production manager in publishing articles and issues and final technical editing.
Production Manager:Hafez Mohammadhassanzadeh
He will manage the production and publication of IJHPM’s articles and issues and check the pre-production quality. He will participate in page designing or technical editing by providing suggestions if necessary.
This part describes the membership, eligibility criteria, and responsibilities of IJHPM Editorial Board members. IJHPM’s Editorial Board is an important source of advice and support for IJHPM’s editorial policies. IJHPM’s Editorial Board is responsible for the overall performance of the journal in selecting and accepting manuscripts for publication.
Membership
The editorial board members will be appointed by the editor-in-chief and confirmed by the Editorial Board. This will be a two-year renewable mandate.
Applications will be welcomed from interested individuals who are able to demonstrate a minimum of five years of experience as a post-doctoral researcher, peer reviewer, and author of published peer-reviewed scholarly articles. Applications meeting these minimum criteria will be referred to the editor-in-chief for further evaluation. The editor-in-chief may apply further criteria at his discretion. Applications must include suitable supporting documentation. Curriculum vitae will generally be sufficient. Any documentation must be in English. Successful applicants will be notified by the managing editor. Decisions might generally take one month.
Eligibility Criteria
Key qualities sought for the position of Editorial Board members include:
- Possessing a doctoral degree in the specific subject related closely to the journal
- Having an established record of scholarship (at least five manuscripts published in the last five years) in health policy and management
- Fluent in academic and professional English
- Working quickly and accurately to tight deadlines
- Holding a job at a university or academic organization with a teaching or research position
- Serving as a reviewer for IJHPM for two years and completed an adequate number of non-biased high-quality reviews
- Demonstrating high contribution in areas needed on the Editorial Board
Responsibilities
- Working closely with the editor-in-chief to develop the journal’s editorial vision, processes, and practices
- Demonstrating confidentiality and objectivity regarding the manuscripts and the review process
- Providing expertise, advise, and assessment assistance to the editor-in-chief
- Helping the editor-in-chief identify potential reviewers
- Helping the editor-in-chief decide which manuscripts to publish
- Helping the editor-in-chief identify potential journal manuscripts for submission
- Managing a minimum of six manuscript reviews per year in a timely manner
- Recommending suitable reviewers to the editor-in-chief to ensure a timely review process
- Advising the editor-in-chief on matters of journal development
- Encouraging article submissions to the journal from their network of colleagues and contacts
- Providing occasional guest editorials or guest editing a special issue
- Representing and promoting the journal at conferences

IJHPM prevailing criteria for articles include the originality, high academic quality, and genuine interest to a wide international audience. The journal editorial team encourages the authors to pay close attention to the factors that will increase the likelihood of acceptance. Manuscripts that fall short of setting out the international debates and policy lessons are more likely to be rejected or returned to the authors for redrafting prior to being reviewed. Researchers who write about a specific health problem, intervention, or service should discuss the relevance of the analysis for the broader health system. Those evaluating health policies or health system performance should draw on relevant bodies of theory in their analysis; otherwise justify why they have not done so, instead of just presenting a narrative based on empirical data.
IJHPM has also adopted a new initiative in line with the knowledge translation movements across the globe by which authors of the original articles should presentimplications of their research for policy makers and publicalike.
IJHPM supports the Open Access initiative. Abstracts and full texts (PDF format) of all articles published by IJHPM are freely accessible to everyone immediately upon publication. Reusing and publishing IJHPM published articles is permitted by following Creative Commons user license:http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/. Users are free to copy and redistribute the IJHPM published articles in any medium or format under the Creative commons license terms and conditions.
IJHPM encourages materials of general interest to an international readership. It serves as an important resource for academic scholars, researchers, health professionals and healthcare providers, practitioners, administrators, health industry leaders, legislators, policy analysts, healthcare insurance, healthcare managers and planners, policy and decision makers, and public at both national and international levels. The originality of IJHPM is itsattention to publicas a major audience. Public is targeted via adding the section ofimplications for publicto each original article and preparing the video-casts. IJHPM has made an attempt to inform public of these initiatives via diverse social networks such asYouTube,Facebook,Twitter,LinkedIn,ResearchGate,Mendeley, andAcademia.
Elements of the IJHPM logo exemplify concepts such as global heath, knowledge management, and future studies. It communicates a complex message with just a simple design linking well to the meaning behind the name.
Apple symbolizes health and beauty. The apple is surrounded by a circle, which exemplifies the globe. These together imply the global health. There is a path through the apple originated from the circle; this indicates strategies toward health. The narrowing path also symbolizes future studies in health. The book the apple conveys the knowledge and evidence with flames of knowledge surrounding the entire complex. This implies evidence-based policy making/decision making as well as evidence-based practice/medicine.
